We are an award winning design agency specializing in donor engagement in the nonprofit sector.

Results are guaranteed. Here’s what we’ve done for some of our clients already:

    • Oxfam Canada saw a 235% increase in ad engagement.
    • Kinship Heals raised $2.5M after our rebrand
    • Carbon Engineering raised $5M after working with us

    How do we do it?

We’ve perfected donor engagement through our proprietary process.

It’s called Empathy Stimulation©. Here’s how it works.

A Venn diagram showing three overlapping circles that depict how visual language, content, and user experience combine to stimulate empathy leading to increased donations by users of a website. Visual Language is presented in one circle, and is assigned the attributes of creating attraction, desire, and alignment for website users. Where it overlaps with the Content circle beside it, wherein content is defined as storytelling, results, evidence, and transparency, the overlap indicates that, together, visual language and content create relevance for website users. The third circle at the base of the visual language and content circles is labelled "User Experience". User experience is defined by the qualities of ease of use, clear user journey, accessibility, and testing. When user experience combines with visual language, it creates drawing power. When it combines with content, it creates shared understanding with the website users. Finally, where the three circles representing the techniques of visual language, content, and user experience overlap, they cause increased donations.
    • Using a combination of visual language, content and donor experience design, Empathy Stimulation© opens a two-way emotional channel through psychological triggers, building relationships with current and prospective donors.
    • These triggers include wording, colors, images, videos, and other elements that can open your donor’s emotional gate, bypassing negative feelings such as pain or sadness your potential donor might feel from their day-to-day issues.

Once the channel is open, an equal exchange happens.

    • Donors feel empathy for your cause not only because it’s a worthy goal but also because donating provides them with positive reinforcement and emotions, helping to alleviate their own pain and problems, bit by bit.

    TESTIMONIALS

What our clients have to say.

Michael Schmitz VP Strategic Partnerships, Recarbon Inc

Beacon is a top-notch design firm, that is remarkably responsive and super easy to work with. Their team is really talented, and really "got" what we were looking for—practicing (not preaching) human-centered design. At the project onset, they provided a comprehensive work plan that outlined exactly what was going to happen and when in order to meet the deadline. They were able to create an attractive, effective, and fresh visual language for our organization in only a few short weeks. Their project manager offers lightning fast email replies so I never have to wonder what’s going on. I wholeheartedly recommend The Beacon Design Collective Inc.

Dani Vachon and the Beacon Collective are absolutely wonderful to work with—so much so that this is now the second organization at which I have chosen to work with her team for our design needs. Dani has an impeccable eye for creative design, is incredibly responsive and communicative, and has never missed a deadline (despite us often bringing projects with complex, technical content and tight turnaround times). She is a delight to work with and consistently makes my job easier. I wholeheartedly recommend Dani and the Beacon team.

When my partner asked me, 'If money were no object, would you still choose Beacon?' I said, "Yes". I've worked with other agencies before, and they just don’t compare to Beacon.

As a consulting firm that is often pulled to delivery high-quality work, working with Beacon Design Collective was a great choice. The team is responsive, possesses a keen eye for design, met the respective deadline, and satisfied our budget requirements. We will continue to return to Beacon Design for future work and potential partnership opportunities.

Beacon helped us to tell our story, address the complexity of communicating our mission and programs, and introduce ourselves to new funders, all in a clean and compelling way. We've been able to double our budget, and grow our staff and our impact, so I could not be more thrilled with the results.
