Love as Medicine: A Webby Honoree for Collective Healing
The Beacon Design Collective is honoured to share that Love as Medicine: Community Healing through Collective Action has been named an Official Honoree in the 29th Annual Webby Awards Video & Film – Public Service & Activism category.
We’re really chuffed, as only the top 25% of all entries receive this distinction. We’re equally pleased with the feedback from Nick Borenstein, general manager of The Webby Awards: “Honorees like Beacon are leading the charge in pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation online. Being chosen from nearly 13,000 entries this year is a remarkable accomplishment and a true testament to their excellence.”
We created the Love as Medicine animated video for our client, For a Loving Future, which serves as a home for a community of practitioners committed to a world of belonging, connection, and abundance for all life. As part of their work, they support community building and learning opportunities rooted in Indigenous principles. We are deeply moved and proud to see our work with them acknowledged on a global stage.
Love as Medicine isn’t a traditional explainer video. Its visual language, motifs, and themes speak to the harms caused by extractive systems, colonization, and individualism; convey a call to return to right relationships with each other, and with the Earth; and emphasize a radically different response to the dangers the world faces: love.
So, when the video’s narrator says, “This changes everything for me,” it resonates. Because love—when acted upon with empathy, courage, and solidarity—does change everything.
With gratitude
We’d like to thank For a Loving Future for trusting us to tell their story, and take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to using strategic design as a tool to advance justice, storytelling as a vehicle to build connections, and love as a means to heal individuals and communities.
Let’s keep building a loving future—together.
